As President of the Australian Rugmakers Guild, I welcome you to this web site. I hope through this site Australians interested in rug making with different fibres, including wool yarn, wool fabric, rags and recycled materials will find access to rug making teachers and supplies and feel a connection with others who share their passion.

Miram, pictured here in front of one of her hooked rugs, has been teaching rug hooking in Australia for many years – she is the author of Proggy and Hooky Rugs, the first Australian book on rug making.

Judy Stephens, Vice President/Membership Chair of the Australian Rugmakers Guild and convener of the Rag Rug Exhibition in Strathalbyn October 2008, is a fibre artist and quilter of note, author of several articles for magazines both in Australia and overseas. “Inspirations” embroidery magazine (Issue #62) features one of her prodded bags as its “pocket project”.
Judy is Vice President of TIGHR (The International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers) and was a Panel participant at the 2009 TIGHR conference September 2009 in Kentucky, USA.
